PEEK Molding Service

MOLDING SERVICE

Molding PEEK is a drying and temperature problem first

Most PEEK defects we are called in to fix were created before the mold closed. We run the equipment the material actually needs: desiccant drying to 150 °C, 160–220 °C oil temperature control on both halves, and a corrosion-resistant screw with no dead pockets.

High-temperature injection press
WHAT WE RUN

From engineering samples to 5,000-piece runs

  • Engineering samples and design-validation parts in production-intent material
  • Small-batch production from 1 to 5,000 pieces on flexible scheduling
  • Grade sourcing on your behalf — Victrex, Solvay, Evonik or an equivalent domestic grade
  • Dimensional first-article reports, FAI available on request
  • Annealing and stress relief included for precision parts

DEFECT TROUBLESHOOTING

Common PEEK defects and what actually fixes them

DefectMain causeCountermeasure
WarpageUneven mold temperature, uneven coolingConformal cooling, independent circuits, annealing
Bubbles / silver streaksInsufficient drying, melt too hotRe-dry, lower melt temperature, check runner
Sink marks / voidsLow holding pressure, gate freezing earlyEnlarge gate, longer hold, higher holding pressure
Burns / scorch marksPoor venting, excessive shearAdd vents 0.015–0.02 mm deep, slower injection
Stress crackingCooling too fast, insufficient annealingRaise mold temperature, standardize annealing
Short shotInsufficient pressure or mold temperatureRaise injection pressure and mold temperature, enlarge runner
Weak weld linesLow melt temperature, poor ventingRaise melt and mold temperature, relocate gate
