A production steel tool is a large, slow and largely irreversible commitment. For a high-temperature part whose design may still move, rapid tooling is usually the better first spend.
Every rapid tool runs through the same DFM review as production tooling: gating proposal, fill and warpage assessment, shrinkage compensation. First articles are measured and delivered with a dimensional report. What you approve is the geometry production will hold.
When volumes justify steel, the validated design carries over untouched — the decisions made during validation are the ones the production tool is built from. Nothing learned is thrown away.
Whether you need 50 parts or 5,000, the question is the same: what is the cheapest way to be certain? Usually it is a rapid tool.
